Berry Head National Nature Reserve
The beautiful headland of Berry Head in Brixham is a National Nature Reserve and Torbay's most important wildlife site. It is a haven for several nationally rare and threatened species of wild flowers which are dependant upon the thin limestone soils, mild climate and exposed conditions of the headland. Caves at Berry Head are home to the endangered Greater Horseshoe Bat and the Guillemot colony on the cliffs below the Southern Fort is one of the largest on Enlgand's South Coast. Berry Head is also a historically famous military site with some of the best preserved Napoleonic forts in the country.
